Brave Kiwi successfully rescues lion and bear from ISIS Zoo.
It reads like the script of a great thriller. The animal version of Argo if you will. An elaborate mission in the heart of war torn Mosul, the front line in the fight against ISIS. The great escape, only this time planned for a lion and a bear, the two survivors of an ISIS controlled zoo.

As is often the case, never far from the action is a Kiwi. Anton Leach, a freelance cameraman, is part of a small team of activists from Four Paws who have just pulled off one of the great rescues of our time.

Driven by the love of animals and exhibiting bravery in the face of war, possible capture and unspeakable horrors, the team had managed to transport the animals from the wretched zoo to the border where they awaited clearance to cross to freedom. It was a tedious, strenuous wait that lasted many days.

Only metres separated the animals from a certain death back at the decrepit zoo and freedom. It seemed so close, yet so far away too. An agonizing wait ensured which wasn't helped by the American attack on Syria. However, Four Paws today released the news that they have succesfully crossed the border and are now arranging homes for the lion and bear in animal sanctuaries. The Four Paws team have lit a small beacon of hope for our human race seemingly so contempt on its own destruction.
